Are you currently building a budget? Follow our advice to get the highest chances of getting your budget approved.
Before starting your budget, make sure you complete the Treasurer Training Form on SAFAC’s Engage. If you don’t, you are not eligible to submit a budget. It will provide you with all the introductory knowledge you need to navigate SAFAC procedures and successfully submit a budget request.
Due to high demand in requests, sometimes you may have to wait a little longer than expected to receive back your approved budget. To ensure that you can make all necessary purchases on time, submit your budget as early in the school year as you can - even if you are not planning on using the funds until a couple of months later.

SAFAC funds based on the guiding principles of each organization. That is, we take into consideration your organization’s purpose and goals, as stated in your constitution, whenever we review a budget. If you wish to change your constitution., please contact COSO, at [email protected].
Read the SAFAC guidelines while building your budget. Make sure you are not requesting any item listed under ‘Requests not Funded.’ Moreover, try to sort all items you are requesting into the existing SAFAC categories and look at the caps for each of them.
While it’s ultimately the committee’s choice to determine how to fund the budget, doing this may help you to gauge how much you could get from each category.
Rank the items in your budget in order of importance. When making funding decisions, SAFAC examines the budget top-to-bottom. Therefore, you could reach the cap of a particular funding category within the first couple of items, and not have any remaining money for items in the same category that are listed underneath.
Because of this, always put the most important requests in the first few rows.
